Do-Si-Do and Promenade
Saturday was a blast. Don and I took the day to enjoy the amazing spring weather and went beachward. As they say, "Go West, Young Men" except we don't know who "they" are and young? Well, me, not so much. But it was a great day. We headed for the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. We strolled the streets laughing at crazy homeless people ("Hey baby, I see your pretty little toes, lookin' all like tiny Popsicles...") as we ate at Johnny Rockets. Then it was off to the Camera Obscura on the beach, and a stroll along the pier. It was great to be outside and enjoying the sunshine and fresh sea air, even if Don can't smell it. I'm still trying to decide which was more fun: checking out sharks at the Santa Monica Aquarium or finding the original Happy Days house in Hollywood. Not Milwaukee.
Venice, Italy California
Later in the afternoon, we took a left turn to Venice. I had never been to the canals, so we took a stroll along them. Yes, Italian people followed up with violins as we walked. It's quite amazing, actually. So quiet and private. I'm not quite sure why they have special places where you are supposed to put humans on leashes and make them get down on all 4's, but they do. Rich people and their hobbies. Go figure. I'm still trying to figure out how such tiny birds build an entire mobile home out of a shoe box, maybe one day the mystery will be solved. After a few margaritas at El Coyote, I stopped caring about the avian mobile home.
Movin' On Up
I have been trying to clean up the garden and make it feel like home again, but I'm not winning. This place just feels - blarg. I want to move. I want amenities. I want closets. I want a pool. I want a bigger bedroom and a separate place to play. I'm greedy, I know, but I want I want I want. And maybe this is the place. I found a two-bedroom townhouse style apartment about 4 miles from work. Large living room, dining area, decent kitchen. A small (tiny) bathroom downstairs and a full bath and two bedrooms upstairs. No yard, but it has a shared pool. I'm considering it. More next week.
