Well, here it is Wednesday and I haven't yet written the details to go with the pictures. I got it into my head a couple weeks ago that I wanted to make sure I took a real vacation this year. Not sure what to do - and not really sure where I wanted to go - I decided on a road trip. Open ended travel, up the coast to Vancouver, Canada, to add a stamp to my passport. So I hastily threw clothes in a bag, threw my camping gear in the trunk, and headed north. First stop, San Francisco. It was 104 degrees in Glendale, and it was 47 degrees in San Francisco. Damn. And I had nothing packed for cold. I tried to go out to Castro, but I was in shorts and T-shirts and I was freezing. Still, I did a little pre-going-out drinking in my lovely Travelodge Motel in the Castro, then went down to the Castro, and drank one drink in a bar and - freezing - hurried home. I did have enough time on my walk to notice that even the mannequins in San Francisco are packing. This was stop one on the tour. Not much, really, but a calm start after a long day of packing and driving.
