Spank the Karaoke
It was a holiday during the daytime, but the nighttime was supposed to be a school night. Monday was Labor Day - oddly a day of no labor for most. But Tuesday was a school day - I should have gone to bed early and been well-rested for the day ahead, but no; I went out drinking at the Bullet. My friend Carlos called me up and said he was going with friends - turned out his friends were Free and the Kuma gang. I stayed just past 11, had some fun watching some good singing (Free and Ryan tore it UP on a Scissor Sisters song) and having me a few cocktails. Let's just say that Tuesday felt... long.
Number 9
Wednesday was 9/9/09. The Beatles collection came out re-mastered. So what? 9 opened nationwide. I almost never go to opening night movies, but this was an event. I got Roger and Don and we met up at the Arclight for dinner, drinks and movies. Did you know you could eat and drink at the Arclight? So a tasty French dip down, and two of something called The Source (vodka and cranberry, really) we were ready for 9. Or were we? Is anyone really ready for a prostatic puppet tale? I thought it was interesting, if not familiar in many places. Elements seems sewn together (pun intended) from other films: The Matrix, Terminator, Labyrinth. Did I love it? I did. I just wish we had all gone out afterward to discuss and analyze it while it was fresh in mind.
Grace Sports Complex
September 12, 2008, an MetroLink train collided with a freight train in the San Fernando Valley. Our school counselor, Ron Grace, was on that train and lost his life in the accident. September 11, 2009, my school dedicated the newly-designated Ron Grace Sports Complex. It was a nice memorial.
Fan-Fucking-Tasmic
You know I love me some Disney. And I haven't been in ages. So Friday, Don and I went to Home for some happy hour cocktails and nibbles (hello sexy busboy with the ear spikes!) and while there, were having such a good time, I didn't want it to end. So - being spontaneous - I said we should go to Disney. An hour later, there we were. We hit Pirates, then sat in the front row section for Fantasmic. It was... the same. With a new dragon and some new eels. But otherwise the same. My butt hurt from sitting. My legs cramped from indian style pose for an hour plus. But I was in the happiest place on earth, so I was wholly unable to complain. It was a long day, and full of fun every minute!
