Sunday. It's too much to fit on one page - I'm going to have to do this in parts.
Sunday. It started with brunch at 11am in Long Beach at Hamburger Mary's. It was Diane's idea to get a bunch of people together for no good reason and have Drag Queen Brunch and then a Pub Crawl along Broadway in Long Beach. Diane put an open invitation, so there I am with Don, Gus and his roommate, David, and friend Daniel show up, Gus's mother and her husband are there, straight couples, single ladies... it was rather a mixed crowd.
So there we are, eating cold pancakes and chilly eggs (when they could finally find a fork - can you believe a restaurant that was out of forks at 11am? They'd only been open ten minutes!), but not caring because they keep forcing more mimosas down our throats. Bliss. And Roxy Monoxide does her Lady Gaga while the crowd goes wild. And it was a crowd - packed more than I'd seen it in my life. We had Calvin, that sexy beast, as our main waiter, but this energizer-bunny of a lesbian kept checking up on us, filling our glass and... well, that's pretty much it, filling out glasses of bottomless mimosa goodness.
Sparkle Stone was there in her many, many, many costume changes. I think she brought the house down with her Annie medley. Some little kids (yes, there were 4 little kids there with their families - it kinda rocked) were singing along to all the Annie songs. And more mimosas... Psychadella did an awesome Olivia Newton-John number... while sucking down a Slim Jim and munching on Doritos. Hot!
It was a good time, good reunions - it had been forever since I'd seen Diane and nearly as long since I spent time with Gus. He seems to be happily settled in Long Beach, though he admits to missing acting. Working the night shift doesn't allow a lot of time for rehearsals and shows. Diane is busy producing some shows in Santa Monica, at the old Morgan-Wixton Theater... where I did Man of La Mancha about a hundred years ago.
