TAKING EVERY CHANCE, MAKING ANY CHANGE

So what can I say about this week? It started with a two-hour dental appointment on Monday, having a tooth filed down to a nubbin so they can make a crown to go on top. I had no idea what a crown was, and just thought it was a little thing they glued in place... I had no idea I had to sit through the smell and sounds of over an hour of drilling and sandblasting and chiseling my molar. But now I have a shiny aluminum tooth for a few weeks until the real crown is made. Yeah, I'm G like that.

And then on Thursday I had to go through the humiliating experience of being evaluated by the principal at my school. Remember, they've already fired me for next year. So what is there to review? After that work day, I went to claim my possessions from my now-totaled Toyota. The insurance company called it a total loss. When I got there, I found two things: the driver-side window was broken and all my personal items were gone: GPS unit, garage remote control, iPod cables for the stereo, papers and documents from the glove box... everything. It was shocking to be told that it wasn't the responsibility of the tow yard to protect valuables. This just keeps getting better and better.

On Friday, then, I took the day off. I earned it. In actuality, it was because I went on a job interview. A charter school in - get this - Temecula is looking for a high school teacher for English and social studies. It was an interesting interview.

I ended the week in San Diego. I figured I was almost all the way there for the interview, might as well make a trip out of it. But after traveling with friends lately, traveling alone wasn't as great as I had wanted it to be. But I did have some good times. Though I felt a bit lonely by Sunday, and was just glad to be home. Now I'm facing a suitcase full of clothes to unpack and still have a few things in my car to bring upstairs... but it can wait.
