TRIALS AND TREPIDATIONS

How was my week like an elevator operator? It had it's ups and downs. <ba-dum-bum>

It started well, Don and I went out to dinner to have a conversation - we're going to be roommates in a couple weeks! He's helping me save money by moving in and I'm helping him... well, I'm not sure... I think I'm helping him clean his apartment by forcing him to move. Oh, and he'll save some on rent, too. His friend Stephanie is moving to LA from back east and she's going to be our third - so we'll be playing Three's Company for a while. She claimed Chrissy, and Don is funny like Jack, so I guess that makes me Janet. After dinner we went to the Bullet's Kinky Karaoke with Alex. I finally decided "What the hell?" and sang my first karaoke song in a gay bar that I can remember. I understand I didn't suck. Or so I'm told by those who wanted to hang out with me again.

On Thursday my insurance check came for the totaled Toyota, and I had to return the SUV I'd been driving for almost three weeks. That meant back on the bus for Friday and that I had lots of thinking to do. Buy a car or not? New car or old junker if I decide to buy at all? How long can I live as a busser in Los Angeles, anyway? Just getting groceries is a pain in the ass when you have to carry things home half a mile - I suddenly don't need any more twelve-packs of Diet Dr. Pepper.

Saturday my chariot came with a coachman in the form of Joel. We went to a fundraiser for the LA LifeWorks organization that Joe was throwing at Oil Can Harry's. It was called "Bear Necessities" and despite not wanting to be a bear, I still find myself going to more bear events than any other. So we hit that up, and I had a good time.

Sunday was less fun. I was given tickets to yet another play and was unable to find anyone to go with, so I just let the tickets go to waste. True, it was Mother's Day for those who celebrate it, and it was short notice, but it still sucks that I don't have "people" to do things with like that. I have a couple individual persons, who all had things to do. And then I was going to go to "Bears in Space" at Akbar on Sunday night, but I think with moving furniture around all weekend I was a bit low on energy and wasn't feeling it, so I declined when I got the call to go.
