What a great week it was. Then again, when you only go to work one day out of 5, how bad could it be, right? Monday: holiday. Tuesday: work (meh). Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: Personal Necessity Days that I will lose if I don't use them by June 21. You see, I found out on Tuesday that I have lost my legal challenge to getting fired. I knew that I had only worked 74.86% of my first year, and I knew that the district would figure it out, too. So I got the formal reply saying that since I hadn't worked 75% my first year, it didn't count toward "Permanency" and I was able to be terminated without cause as a probationary employee. Any chance of earning a reprieve are gone, and I figured - why work if I can stay home and get paid?
Though I didn't stay home at all. Thursday and Friday I went to Universal City to meet with the Pearson Foundation people all day. I helped write the curriculum for their summer teaching institutes, putting technology in the classroom. Pretty cool stuff. Then I booked another week as a facilitator for them in San Antonio next week! New Orleans the week after that. Then a local school, followed by two weeks in Chicago. I won't be home again really until the end of July.
Speaking of home - they've arrived. Don and Stephanie officially moved in on Thursday. And boy have we been celebrating! I'm so tired right now that I'm debating taking a nap and finishing later. But I know if I do... it might not get done at all, so I shall marshall on. From drinking, to eating and drinking, to Disney (strangely, completely without drinking). So come on in, meet Stephanie, and see what kinds of things we got up to this week.
