Despite Disney, the Angels, and a hookup mid-week, it was kind of quiet in Anaheim. Before heading home, then, I decided I needed a bit of fun. On FaceBook, I was reminded that the new Los Angeles event (though it has been a long-running San Francisco event) Bearracuda was on for Friday at the Echoplex in Los Feliz. Well, I showered up, checked out of my hotel early, and drove directly there Friday evening after a nice wine-and-cheese social with the principal of the school I was working in, and after a sushi-and-giant-beer dinner with Tyler. You see, I still had $60 of my per diem to spend, and the Echoplex had a fully stocked bar.
So I texted Joel to meet me there, and I was happy to be met by two Joels! Joel Perry, that sexy and funny bear, was there on his own to cut loose and boogie. So a drink and a toast were definitely on. DJ Medic (known to me years ago simply as J.P.) was spinning, so that was a nice sight, too.
Something called ejector was performing live. I'm not sure what to make of them. It was an interesting show, but I can't recall their tunes, so I'm not sure what that says of their singing. Probably nothing; I may have been slightly hammered by the time they went on - remember, I was drinking my per diem away. You can buy a lot of vodka for $60 at a dive bar.
I want to say that it was such a nice night because of the people I saw there. Yes, Joel and Joel to start, to be sure. Of course JP was looking cute as ever, even with the septum ring. And then I saw Gus drunk off his butt. I ran into Jason, Christopher, Free (on his birthday tour), Virsil (in the bathroom of all places), and Moose (note: tattoo). I think there were more, I'm sure there were more, but after a certain hour, it all gets hazy and fuzzy. I do remember stalking these two hot guys with really really amazing arms, but I don't think I ever got their names and I probably didn't know them before that night.
It was a really fun night, a great way to end the week and start the weekend. Joel Perry reminded me of something I've said before - I love going out on Friday nights because it sends the weekend into extended overtime. When I wake up Saturday morning after a fun night out, I feel like I got a whole extra weekend day to enjoy! |
